Discover Egypt’s Mediterranean gem on a comfortable private day trip from Cairo. Alexandria blends ancient history, coastal views, and modern culture — perfect for families and small groups who want depth without the rush.
Your Hotel
Your guide and driver meet you at your Cairo or Giza hotel at 7:00 AM. Relax in a private air-conditioned vehicle as you drive north to the coast, about 2.5 hours. Your guide will share stories about Alexandria’s role as a center of learning and trade, so the drive feels part of the experience.
Your first stop is the Alexandria National Museum. Inside, you’ll see artifacts that bring the city’s layered past to life — from pharaonic treasures to Roman statues and Islamic art. We keep the tour pace family-friendly with clear explanations for both adults and kids.
Next, descend into the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa. This underground site is unlike any other in Egypt, mixing three cultures in its carvings, statues, and burial chambers. It’s cool, quiet, and fascinating for curious minds.
After that, visit Pompey’s Pillar. Standing over 25 meters tall, it’s an impressive reminder of Roman Alexandria. You’ll have time for photos with the ancient ruins around it.
Midday, enjoy lunch at a well-reviewed local restaurant overlooking the sea. Fresh seafood is the specialty, but we’ll arrange a vegetarian meal if you request it when booking. Bottled water is included.
In the afternoon, stop at the Citadel of Qaitbay for panoramic views of the harbor and Mediterranean. Built on the site of the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria, it’s a great spot for photos and a sea breeze. We’ll also pass by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina so you can see its striking modern architecture from outside.
By late afternoon, your driver takes you back to Cairo/Giza. Expect to return to your hotel around 4:00 PM.
