Egypt Travel FAQ: Booking, Visa & Safety

Frequently Asked Questions About Traveling to Egypt

Here are answers to the questions our guests ask most often about booking a private tour, visas, safety, what to wear and what is included. If your question is not here, just contact us.

Booking

How do I book a tour?

Simply choose your tour, select your date, and complete checkout online. You'll receive a confirmation email with all the details. For custom or multi-day itineraries, feel free to email us first at khonsutours@outlook.com.

Are your tours really private?

Yes. Unless a tour explicitly says "small group," every Khonsu Tours experience is private – just your own group, your guide, and your driver.

What's included in the price?

Each tour page lists exactly what's included (entrance fees, guide, transport, meals, etc.) under "What's Included" or "Tour Details." Anything not listed – such as gratuities or personal expenses – is extra.

Where do you pick us up?

On our tours from Cairo, pickup and drop-off are included from any address within about 50 km of Downtown Cairo – your hotel in Cairo or Giza, an apartment, a café or any other location. Just tell us the address when you book. Tours that start in Aswan or Luxor list their own meeting point on the tour page.

What is your cancellation policy?

All tours, cruises and multi-day trips can be cancelled free of charge up to 72 hours before the start. Please see our Cancellation & Refund Policy for full details.

Visa and Entry

Do I need a visa for Egypt?

Most nationalities can obtain a visa on arrival or an e-Visa online before travel. Requirements vary by country, so please check with the nearest Egyptian consulate or your government's travel advisory before you travel.

Safety and Local Customs

Is it safe to travel in Egypt?

Safety is the question we hear most. Egypt's major tourist areas are well used to international visitors, and tourist police are present at most major sites. On a private tour you are accompanied by your guide and driver all day, which adds to your safety and comfort. As with any destination, we recommend checking your government's latest travel advisory before booking.

What should I wear?

Comfortable, breathable clothing and closed shoes are recommended for sightseeing. For religious sites (churches, mosques, monasteries), shoulders and knees should be covered.

Is the water safe to drink?

We recommend bottled water, which is included on most of our tours.

Planning Your Trip

When is the best time to visit Egypt?

October to April is the most comfortable period for sightseeing. Summer is very hot, especially in Luxor and Aswan, so tours start early in the morning. Read our first-trip planning guide for more tips.

How many days do I need?

Seven to ten days is ideal for Cairo, Luxor and Aswan. Our 8-day Classic Egypt package is a good starting point.
