What to Expect on Your Egyptian Museum Tour

After hotel pickup you drive to downtown Cairo. At the Egyptian Museum, opened in 1902, your Egyptologist leads you through the highlights of the collection: Old Kingdom statues such as Rahotep and Nofret, the royal statues of Khafre and Menkaure, the art of Akhenaten's Amarna period and the gold and silver treasures of the kings of Tanis. Please note that Tutankhamun's treasures, including the golden mask, are now displayed at the Grand Egyptian Museum. In the afternoon you continue to Khan el-Khalili, a market dating back to the 14th century. Walk through lanes of spices, lanterns and silverware, and relax with mint tea in a traditional café before returning to your hotel.
